The brightly liveried colours of the Grimaldi Line add such a vibrancy to the salt marsh.
This is the chunk Grande Sicilia, a 177 m long x 33 m wide ro-ro (roll-on roll-off) car transporter. Her cadmium yellow hull blended with the yellows on the salt marsh. While the winsor and ultramarine blues of sky and hills are a wonderful contrast. The colours are even reflected in the muddy water reflected turning it quite blue.
A distant view as she passes Portishead Pier.
As she draws nearer her white reflections sparkle in the water.
I was close enough to see the cars on the Grande Sicilia’s foredeck as she passed Chapel Pill. Ringed plover and dunlin flew ahead of her. The plover wings shone out in the sunlight. I love the patches of rust red on the yellow hull.
