The iconic curlew with a beak long enough to find a worm deep in the mud and long enough to reach that feather.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It is a cool, muted morning. Up against the stark dock wall there are curlews. I watch a while and a pair of winter roe deer amble into view. With heads down they are hard to see.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Curlews are easy to spot in flight but once they land they also blend into the salt marsh.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This shelduck caught my eye. He was so easy to spot with such bright white plumage. It took me longer to see the herd of curlews by his side.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
