A hazy August dawn and a small flock of Canada geese are by\u00a0the dock wall. A lone greylag goose trails behind, I often see\u00a0them together.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

They drop down onto the salt marsh with the edges of their wings picked out in\u00a0the sunrise.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The salt marsh is rich in herbs and grasses . . .<\/p>\n

. . . the leaves of the sea plantain seem to be a particular attraction.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A summer storm is brewing . . \u00a0large\u00a0drops of rain begin falling. They start slowly but gain a frenzied momentum and for a while the\u00a0sound of raindrops\u00a0hitting\u00a0leaves and landing heavily on parched\u00a0earth drowns out the\u00a0sounds of the geese.\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

Shafts of sunlight settle on Denny Island as\u00a0the storm clouds clear. They cast a lovely blue-green hue across the Welsh hills.<\/p>\n
